Baby Giraffes

One of the cutest creatures on earth is the baby giraffe. These little guys actually aren't so little, and soon grow to be quite big! Baby giraffes are called calves, and they are the closest thing to a stuffed giraffe. These little creatures are protected quite well by their mothers who stay around and don't stray to far only to return to them for the night. The mothers must be so protective because, sadly enough, typically at least half of baby giraffes are attacked by predators such as lions and hyenas. The mothers, being so large, protect the baby giraffes by kicking the predators.

Before they are born, baby giraffes stay inside their mothers for around 15 months which is a lot longer than humans. On the contrary though, giraffes only live to be about 25 years old.
